WHOOP is a performance optimization system that tracks athlete recovery, training, and sleeping hours to help boost performance. Aurelian Nicolae, John Capodilupo, and Will Ahmed established WHOOP in 2012 and in Boston, Massachusetts.

The company provides athletes, coaches, and trainers with a continuous understanding of strain and recovery to balance training, reduce injuries, and predict performance. It creates a product that makes individuals and teams perform at a higher level through a deeper understanding of their bodies and daily lives. The WHOOP Strap 3.0 collects physiological data 24/7 to provide an accurate and granular understanding of the body.[1]

Two of Whoop first 100 users were LeBron James and Michael Phelps. Whoop became partners with the NFL Players Association, so they were distributed to every player in the NFL. Whoop became the first [wearable] approved in Major League Baseball. We got to work with incredible people like the Navy SEALs.[2]

Support to black community and diversity

Donation

As their commitment to the Black Community, Whoop announced a $20,000 donation to the Equal Justice Initiative and working internally to provide financial support to organizations supporting racial equality and social justice.[3]

Diversity across recruiting & hiring

Whoop also will add $10,000 to their recruitment marketing budget and allocate it to sponsored job ads on job sites geared towards hiring people of color across all Whoop career opportunities.

Training & education

All Whoop Executives will take part in training regarding unconscious bias and resources will be provided to all employees seeking to learn more about anti-racism and civic engagement.

Diversity for affiliate & community program

Whoop commits to onboarding more people of color to our affiliate and community programs in an effort to make representative on social media more balances and representative of of all Whoop members.

Civic participation

Whoop encourages all employees to vote and added November 3rd (Election Day) to our list of office closure holidays. Additionally, "local election day" has been added to list of validated reasons for Whoop employees to take a Recovery Day (paid day off).[4]
