Watch Dogs 2 is an action-adventure game in a sandbox thrill to hacking attempts. The game was released in 2016 by Ubisoft. The game is accessible for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. The main character is a black man named Marcus Holloway. The game mechanics is controlling a character through third party point of view. Many of the mission is doing stealth action with the setting in San Francisco, Oakland, Marin, and Silicon Valley [1]. Based on the epicgames.com, the game is rated +18 because it contains mature content [2]. Players can steal cars, trucks, buses, motor cycles, quad bikes, and boats. The game mechanics allow player to gain control with the environment. Many of the mission require strategy. Player can use various tools to infiltrate or confront with the mission. Hacking is the main strategy during the game play. The player can gain access to forbidden spot by hacking the environment.

The Controversy

There was a scene where a black person was intimidated in his work. The scene took place when the man tried to grab a cup of coffee. Suddenly, a white man came trying to verbally bully the black man. The black man was threatened under suspicious action. The white man asked whether the black man was aiming for something at his work. He was treated verbally by the white man. Finally the white man said, “Yeah, yeah all right. I’m sure you’ll be more forthcoming with HR”, pressuring the black man who tried to grab a cup of coffee [3]. Playing Watch Dogs 2 brings an experience of living as a black American [4]. In many times the game reflexes that black people were treated differently. Watch Dogs 2 handles race in a subtle way. It feels common to some people, but the game is improved for everyone due to its inclusion.[5]
