The Honest Company is an American consumer goods company, founded by actress Jessica Alba. It emphasizes household products to supply the marketplace for ethical consumerism.

Founded in 2012, The Honest Company has raised more than $530 million over seven rounds of funding. Positioned as a provider of eco-friendly and natural baby products and home goods, The Honest Company was borne from founder Jessica Alba’s search for safe, eco-friendly, and affordable childcare products. She was frustrated at how difficult it was to find products that met her standards, and set out to learn more about the industry. She has been a driving force behind the  The Honest Company’s products and public image since.[1]

The Honest Company was born of a simple purpose: to create safe, effective products that work. Core to their mission is using plant and naturally derived materials in the interest of health and sustainability, and because of the many benefits these materials can impart. Also core to their mission is to providing information and education around the ingredients they choose to use.[2]

Support to Black Lives Matter

The Honest Company pledged its support to Black Lives Matter movement in an Instagram post. “Being Honest means talking about the things that hurt, the things that are the most difficult, even when it’s uncomfortable,” the brand wrote. “We’re heartbroken to see what is happening and we are committed to a world that is safe for everyone, no matter who they are, no matter their race. We believe that we’re all in this together and that we must lead with awareness, empathy, and honesty to advocate for equality.⁣” The Honest Company pledged to donate $100,000 to organizations fighting racial injustice, including the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and the Equal Justice Initiative, and committed to matching all donations made by employees to civil rights organizations.[3]

Support to Black-owned brands

The Honest Company believe that in addition to signing every petition and donating where you can, it is so important to simultaneously amplify Black voices and support Black businesses. That is why they released a blog series that highlight a few of their favorite Black-owned brands, published by category from clothing, jewelry, etc.[4]
