The Boo Crew or originally known as Thugaboo, is a children TV series specials aired on Nicktoons on 2006, created by the Wayan Brothers. There are two specials thus far, and both are available on YouTube with the series retitles as The Boo Crew. The first special was titled The Boo Crew: "Sneaker Madness", and the last special entitled The Boo Crew:"A Boo Crew Christmas: A Miracle on D-ROC Street"[1].

Plot

The specials follows the misadventure of nine kids growing up in the inner city of fictional Boo York known as "The Boo Crew", consisting of D-ROC, Dee-Dee, DJ, Money, Lisette, Slim, Chad, Gwenny, Soo Young. Through their friendship and adventures, the crew learn valuable lessons about everything from the importance of family to maintaining self-esteem and pursuing one's goals[2].

Empowerment

The show depicts nine children with different racial backgrounds, related on how the show aimed to create characters that kids can relate to. The show has a structure combination of African-American cultural endurance and adoration with ending music videos similar to Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids.
