The World's 100 Most Threatened Species

Silky sifaka (Propithecus candidus)

  • Symbol confirmed.svg size and age ok. Sourced and notable. Maybe we can come up with a different or more interesting hook but I think the subject sells itself. Casliber (talk · contribs) 10:39, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
  • I agree, that hook isn't the most interesting, even though (probably because) it does emphasize the weight behind it. I'll add a couple more options below. Any of them would be fine by me. First Light (talk) 15:45, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
ALT 1: ... that The World's 100 Most Threatened Species includes one (pictured) with only five surviving mature individuals? (if an image is used for this hook, it should be the second image, which shows the Baishanzu fir, with only five surviving mature individuals).
ALT 2: ... that The World's 100 Most Threatened Species includes species that have no economic value and would be considered worthless by some people?
  • Ooh, hard choice. I do think that both of these are more interesting than the original hook suggested. Casliber (talk · contribs) 09:27, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
  • I'll throw out one more, which I think is the best, since it gets to one of the co-author's main points, which sounds something like a species Bill of Rights.
ALT 3: ... that the creation of The World's 100 Most Threatened Species is guided by "the moral and ethical position that all species have an inherent right to exist"?
  • I know that one is ethically the most important, but it doesn't really grab me as a hook. However, I won't be the person that harvests this hook into a prep area and that person may really like it, so leaving it here is fine and if the harvester thinks it's the best I wouldn't have a problem with that. • That's fine - I trust your judgment, as I'm too close to the article after writing it, so those other two will likely grab others also. First Light (talk) 14:41, 19 September 2012 (UTC)
  • I agree with Casliber's comment that the article title "sells itself", so I think the first hook, being nice and brief and also informative, is perfectly fine. The second hook is acceptable, I am not keen on the last two. Gatoclass (talk) 15:24, 20 September 2012 (UTC)
