Netherlands–Singapore relations

  • Symbol confirmed.svg Seems to meet the DYK criteria. Good to go! -- Frankie talk 22:29, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
  • Symbol redirect vote 4.svg Template:Ping this is not the way to do a DYK review, and if you are using any of these reviews for a QPQ, they will be disqualified. You should provide a review that explicitly confirms that the five main DYK criteria have been met. Yoninah (talk) 20:26, 23 July 2015 (UTC)

  • Thanks! But the grammar in the hook and article, "had started since", is not English. Yoninah (talk) 20:47, 23 July 2015 (UTC)
  • Some grammatical mistakes have been fixed.--Billytanghh (talk) 13:55, 24 July 2015 (UTC)
  • Symbol possible vote.svg Sorry, "has started since" is also not English. It should be "started in the 19th century". But you have another interesting hook fact in the third sentence of the lead. However, that is one of the many examples of close paraphrasing in the article. You cannot just lift sentences and phrases from the sources; you must rewrite them in your own words. These examples must be fixed in order to pass DYK:
  • Source: The Netherlands was one of the first countries to recognise Singapore’s independence in 1965 and establish diplomatic relations.
  • Article: The Netherlands was one of the first European countries to recognize the independence of Singapore and establish diplomatic relations with it in 1965.
  • Source: The leaders reaffirmed the excellent state of bilateral relations
  • Article: Singapore and the Netherlands has developed an excellent state of bilateral relations.
  • Source: The Netherlands assured Singapore of its strong support for the EU-Singapore FTA.
  • Article: The Netherlands also assured Singapore of its strong support towards the Free Trade Agreement between Singapore and the European Union.
  • Source: Both armed forces interact through military courses, visits, and other professional exchanges.
  • Article: The Singapore Armed Forces and the Armed forces of the Netherlands interact by organizing military courses, visits and professional exchanges.

  • Template:Ping it does not appear that English is your first language. Your verbs and tenses are incorrect and there is no such thing as "a bilateral relations which is in good condition". Please contact the WP:GOCE for help. Yoninah (talk) 23:11, 26 July 2015 (UTC)
  • Thank you. I did further copyediting on the article, and also added more from the source. No more close paraphrasing seen. Question: Where did you get the information in the second part of the first paragraph under History? Can you cite it to a source?
  • I would like to suggest a hook with a little more punch:
  • ALT1: ... that the Netherlands was one of the first European countries to establish diplomatic relations with Singapore? Yoninah (talk) 21:34, 27 July 2015 (UTC)
  • Symbol redirect vote 4.svg Template:Ping I see you struck through the original hook and added an image. You also added the ALT1 at the top, which is not necessary, since it's clearly demarcated below, so I deleted the one above. The image is freely-licensed, but honestly, it's so light that it's practically invisible. I would not use it. Since I wrote the ALT1 hook, I cannot approve it. Calling for another reviewer to finish this review. Yoninah (talk) 20:36, 29 July 2015 (UTC)
Symbol question.svg Yoninah's ALT is fine and cited in the article, but the question over the source for the second part of the first paragraph under "History" remains; it can be partially cited to this source (currently number 6 in the article), but that doesn't mention Raffles. The image is not useful in the infobox in the article, let alone at DYK size, because the territories are too small to make out. Belle (talk) 22:38, 1 September 2015 (UTC)
Template:Ping have you deserted us? No edits for a month; let's give this nom a few more days in case the elusive Billytanghh responds to me rubbing the lamp (sounds a bit rude doesn't it? I just meant I was trying to summon them). Belle (talk) 01:20, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
Template:PingThe picture is deleted, while in the source 6, although Anglo-Dutch Treaty of 1824 is mentioned in the source, it is about Malacca, Malaysia instead of Singapore. Hence, I did not put it as the footnote of the Dutch recognition to British occupation in Singapore.--Billytanghh (talk) 01:44, 7 September 2015 (UTC)

Symbol voting keep.svg Welcome back, Template:U. I've removed the "and replace Raffles" as I can't see it in the source (not to say it isn't there, but I can't see it) and it is implied by the preceding clause anyway. On the basis of Frankie's, Yoninah's and my reviews, this is good to go with ALT1. Belle (talk) 10:12, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
