Megan Fisher

Created by HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk). Self-nominated at 19:40, 12 December 2019 (UTC).

  • Symbol question.svg In depth-review of article to come. Otherwise: article was nominated same day as creation and over 1500 bytes of prose. For the hook, it's under 200 characters, interesting, netural and cited. QPQ is needed as stated by nominator. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 20:42, 22 December 2019 (UTC)

Prose check:

  •  Done With the Montana Kaimin source: 1) Fisher grew up near Calgary, not in Calgary  Done 2) Her parents separated, not divorced  Confirmed 3) It doesn't specify if Fisher did spend time with her dad while he lived in Canada/Philippines. Confirmed
  • Montanan isn't specific that the University of Montana tennis team played in the NCAA Division I. Not done
  •  DoneThe Bicycle Story is self published and can't be used per WP:SELFPUBLISH as it's about a living person. Not done
  •  Done"She met Paralympic cyclist Sam Kavanaugh who inspired her to begin competing with the USA Paralympic team" - not exact with Missoulian. Kavanaugh's meeting with Fisher led her to try to get a spot on the Paralympic team. She didn't automatically get on the team, as Fisher said it took her a few years before she made it.Template:Not sure Template:Ns0
  •  Done "In 2010, Fisher competed in the TRI-5 classification at the International Triathlon Union Paratriathlon World Championship in Budapest, Hungary," - Fisher won the event, not just competed. Confirmed
    •  Done"and won the 2010 USA Paratriathlon National Championship in the TRI-5 category" - slight rewording need as it's word for word copy in order to pass limited wording. Not done
  •  Done"She also became the first female with a lower leg amputation to complete an XTERRA off-road triathlon." - I think a bit of rewording would be useful for limited wording, as it's the same word order and closely resembles the sentence. Not done
  •  Done "Fisher began working towards a doctorate in physical therapy at the University of Washington." - I think the "working towards a doctorate" part should be slightly rephraed for limited wording. Confirmed
  •  Done "In London, she competed in Paralympic cycling where she won both a gold and silver medal" - yes, but this doesn't support the specific 2012 events listed in the infobox. I suggest adding an extra source that does says which events, as the 2016 medals mention which specific events. Not done
  •  Done "As a result of winning her third world championship title" - true. I recommend clarifying it was the 2013 ITU Paratriathlon World Championships, as Fisher's article only lists two at the time of her USOC award. Not done
  •  Done Wheelchair Sports Federation says Fisher's bronze was in the C4 3000M individual pursuit event, not 100 track pursuit. Not done

Symbol possible vote.svg Overall: a bit of work needs to be done with prose edits, some rewording to pass limited wording, and one source needs to be replaced due to WP:SELFPUBLISH about a BLP. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 22:14, 22 December 2019 (UTC)

Template:U Thanks for the review. I am on vacation with just my mobile but will try and fix this ASAP.HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 22:20, 22 December 2019 (UTC)
Template:U QPQ done and issues addressed. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 00:32, 30 December 2019 (UTC)
Template:Ping Some more work needed as some of these points haven't been addressed yet. I see you've done a QPQ, so that part is resolved. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 01:12, 30 December 2019 (UTC)
Template:U, could you elaborate on what needs to be fixed? I changed it to 3000M, added the exact relay etc. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 01:14, 30 December 2019 (UTC)
Template:U The ones that still need to be worked on have the red X, red question mark and purple question mark next to them. In regards to your 2 specific questions: the 2016 bronze medal was 3000M individual pursuit per Cycling at the 2016 Summer Paralympics – Women's individual pursuit C4. Both the prose/infobox require updating. For 2012 Summer Paralympics, the Triathlon source doesn't verify the exact medals that are in the infobox, just that they were a gold and silver. If you require further explanation to the individual parts that need additional edits per the above points, let me know. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 01:23, 30 December 2019 (UTC)
Template:U, I believe I have addressed your issues. I hope "She also became the first female lower leg amputee to complete an XTERRA off-road triathlon" is a good enough rewording. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 05:09, 7 January 2020 (UTC)
Template:Ping According to the article history, the article hasn't been edited since December 29th. The reason why I mentioned this is because of your comment today, but I haven't seen any new edits since then. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 20:10, 7 January 2020 (UTC)
Oh I’m so daft, I did it elsewhere. The holidays are getting to me. Give me an hour or so. So sorry about that. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 20:27, 7 January 2020 (UTC)
Template:U, No actually my comment was right. I checked over my edits and think I completed everything December 29 before I left again on holiday. I planned on re-evaluating everything when I came back but I think I tweaked everything. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 22:30, 7 January 2020 (UTC)
Template:Ping I see. In that case, I'll be more specific on what's left to be done from the above list:
  • "at the University of Montana's NCAA tennis team," - "NCAA" needs to be dropped as Montanan does not mention this specific word. Not done (found source that said this)
  • The Bicycle Story source cannot be used in this article as this is a self-published source on a living person. This is currently being cited at the end of the second leg surgery sentence. Done
  • Her third world championship title was the 2013 ITU Paratriathlon World Championships, not the 2013 UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships per the Team USA source. Done
  • Wheelchair Sports Federation says her 2016 Paralympic Bronze was at the 3000M individual pursuit, not the 300 track pursuit. This also needs to be updated in the infobox. Done
  • The two makred Not done for now and Not sure I've changed my mind about, so you can skip those as they're fine.

Template:U Nice find with the KPAX source! Only one minor point left. The Bronze medal was 3000 not 300 per "Her teammate Megan Fisher also took a bronze home at the C4 3000M individual pursuit". --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 22:57, 7 January 2020 (UTC)
Symbol confirmed.svg And i see you tweaked that last one. All set Template:U! --

  • (edit conflict) Template:U, Fixed! I just want to also say thank you so much for doing an in-depth review of this article. While I know it can be taxing and I am not as responsive as I usually am due to the holidays, I appreciate the patience and diligence you have displayed.
