George H. Merryman
- ... that before Dr. George Merryman became an Oregon state representative and state senator, he served as a ship’s doctor on a commercial steamship traveling between Portland, Oregon and the Far East?
- Source: Merryman’s obituary in the 6 May 1948 edition of the Klamath Falls Herald and News says: “... From 1907 to 1908, he (Merryman) represented Klamath, Lake, Grant, and Crook counties in the state legislature and from 1908 to 1912 was state senator for Klamath, Lake, and Crook counties. … He…began his professional career by working out of Portland. In 1902, he made two round trips to the orient as physician for the Portland Asiatic S.S. (Steam Ship) Company.”Template:Subscription
