Dipali Barthakur

  • ... that Dipali Barthakur is an Indian singer from Assam, who received Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award of the country in 1998?

Created/expanded by Bishnu Saikia (talk). Self nominated at 15:29, 2 April 2013 (UTC).

  • Several things. The talk page says the article has already appeared on the main page on April 2; why is that? There are two places that I've marked as citation needed. I'd like to suggest an ALT for the hook: ... that Dipali Barthakur, called the 'Nightingale of Assam', was conferred the Padma Shri in 1998? Ashwin147 (talk) 17:58, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
  • As I a a newcomer to dyk, I placed the dyk template wrongly at Dipali Barthakur's talk page. Pls ignore it. I will cite the missing citation. Your hook is appreciable. Thanks for the msg. Bishnu Saikia 15:40, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
  • Symbol possible vote.svg I see problems, unfortunately. I went through for some cleanup, but there are issues. This, which is supposed to source not just that those songs were sung by her but also that they are notably performed by her, is not a reliable source. What is currently note 3 is apparently a reference to Amar Asom, but the formatting is incorrect and gives no hint as to what we are supposed to find: what is in italics is presumably the title (should be in quotes), but it doesn't read like a title. This, which supposedly verifies her in a redlinked movie (so I can't check it on-wiki), is not a reliable source. Same with this. This is an article on a book about the subject--one can't even call it a review since it's written in a very non-neutral manner.

But the other problem is that the article is too short: right now it's below 1000 characters of actual text (not counting lists, or the announcement of lists). In other words, it cannot pass at this moment. If the editor wants this to pass, more and more reliable sources should be found to beef up the actual textual content of the article. Sorry. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Drmies (talkcontribs) 00:47, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

  • Sorry for being late to this discussion. The main problem I face in maximum nos. of Assam related article is that, there is not much reliable online sources. Though, I tried to give references as much as possible for a better article. And about the length, I have not much knowledge about her, just tried to bring her in wiki as she is a notable person of Assamese music world. At present, I am unable to expand this article due to lack of knowledge on her. Thanks for your edits on the article & comments here from which I am learning to write Wikipedia in a better way. Bye. • Symbol possible vote.svg Thanks for contributing. Well, her notability isn't in question; unfortunately the article just isn't long enough and well-referenced enough at this time. Drmies (talk) 20:45, 20 April 2013 (UTC)
