Bill Bellamy (soldier)

  • ... that Bill Bellamy, who was awarded the Military Cross for gallantry as a tank commander in 1944, raised £30,000 by trekking across Cuba in 2005, at the age of 81?

  • Pictogram voting keep.svg Great topic. Only thing I had to wonder about was the use of the blog for a reference, in only a small part, which used to be frowned at a lot. Other than that reviewed the lot, all reffed, great job. ~ R.T.G 03:44, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

Symbol possible vote.svg Close paraphrasing concerns. Example: "On 5 March 1945 he received the Military Cross, presented personally by Field Marshal Sir Bernard Montgomery, for his bravery during the battle for the hamlet of Doornhoek, near St. Joost in Holland, in October 1944. Under heavy German machine-gun, mortar and shell fire, and in a minefield, He got his burning tank and crew to safety before overrunning enemy positions to allow infantrymen to push through." vs "On 5 March 1945 he received the Military Cross, presented personally by Field Marshal Montgomery, for his bravery during the battle for the hamlet of Doornhoek, near St. Joost in Holland, in October 1944. • Article by a new editor. Have re-written the Military Cross section. Hawkeye7 (talk) 20:35, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
I have rejigged the lead too. Some other segments of four words are hard to rephrase without changing meaning. I feel satisfied now but invite someone else to revisit to see if an how we need to do more. Casliber (talk · contribs) 19:48, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
Actually I am happy with it, so off to prep 4
I am very pleased that this article has been so well received and I thank everyone who has taken an interest in it. It gives me good heart for editing and creating other articles in the future after a very shaky start on my part. I should have guessed that an article on Northern Ireland would be a dangerous thing to attempt. Thanks to everyone who has stepped in to improve the Bill Bellamy article.
