  • Symbol possible vote.svg Nominated within 4 days of receiving GA approval. New enough, long enough, neutrally written, well referenced. However, there is extensive close paraphrasing from the sources that needs to be rewritten in your own words:
  • Source: Both would watch as voters filled out the absentee ballot applications and forms for both the 2007 February general election and the run-offs in April

Done cites added Hugh (talk) 18:23, 10 August 2015 (UTC)
  • Regarding the hooks, the first one is very good, but the part about the 7 mayors and 2 Daleys doesn't appear in the article. The second hook ref is verified and cited inline.
Done Sentence added to article with refs (obits): Stone's tenure as alderman spanned seven Chicago Mayors, including two Mayors Daley. Hugh (talk) 19:08, 10 August 2015 (UTC)
Thank you very much for your considerable time in a thorough check of the sourcing. I will make a pass and correct the close paraphrasing. Thanks again. Hugh (talk) 16:46, 10 August 2015 (UTC)
Done infobox politician swapped for officeholder, thank you. Hugh (talk) 19:19, 10 August 2015 (UTC)

Symbol delete vote.svg BlueMoonset asked me to review this article to see what should be done with it - after finding copyvio from offline sources, I will be nominating it for review of its GA status. Nikkimaria (talk) 13:18, 10 August 2015 (UTC)

Comments on the paraphrasing? Thank you. Hugh (talk) 19:37, 10 August 2015 (UTC)
  • You're doing a good job. But there is far more close paraphrasing than I mentioned here. I just clicked on a random sentence and came up with:
  • Source: Evanston will continue a two-pronged approach, in court and at the negotiating table.
  • Article: Evanston would continue a two-pronged approach, in court and at the negotiating table.
Done Paraphrase: Evanston would continue legal actions in conjunction with negotiations. Hugh (talk) 20:13, 10 August 2015 (UTC)
Thank you for your help and advice. Sorry about this. Many of these edits were by an inexperienced editor (me). I hope I addressed the example at Talk:Bernard Stone/GA2, please see. Thanks again. Hugh (talk) 20:16, 10 August 2015 (UTC)
Thank you again for your advice. I apologize again for this problem. I have made another pass at the article looking at every sentence. I believe the paraphrasing is conformant with WP:CV. I would appreciate feedback on the remediation. Thank you for your time. Hugh (talk) 14:40, 11 August 2015 (UTC)
  • Copied from GA Reassessment page: The page creator has made significant efforts to rewrite the close paraphrasing. I have checked the first dozen of the online sources on Earwig Copyvio Detector and can confirm that there is no more close paraphrasing from online sources. However, Nikkimaria has given one example (see there) that appears in an offline newspaper source. I don't have access to those offline sources. Yoninah (talk) 15:28, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
Cross-posting from GA Reassessment page: Thank you for your help. The GA reassessment page includes an extended relevant excerpt from the source for the close paraphrasing detected by Nikkimaria above. I believe I have addressed the paraphrasing in this and other less immediately available sources. If you have other questions please let me know. The Chicago Sun-Times is archived by NewsBank and HighBeam. Again I apologize for the close paraphrasing. (BTW I'm not the page creator). Thanks again. Hugh (talk) 16:07, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
  • Yoninah, Nikkimaria has just posted on the GAR page that she's now comfortable with the article retaining its GA listing given the article edits that have been done to fix the close paraphrasing issues. Can you continue the review now? Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 20:26, 20 August 2015 (UTC)
  • I would like to take a little more time to look through the rest of the URLs that User:HughD added. In the meantime, this point from the GA reassessment page should be taken care of, as the article is misquoting the source. The article says:
  • In 1988, Stone ran as a Republican against African-American Democratic Illinois State Representative Carol Moseley Braun for Cook County Recorder of Deeds. Stone included Braun's photograph in his campaign flyers. Stone told reporters that although he did not expect their newspapers' endorsements, "Just run a picture of Braun. That's all I ask".
  • From the article, it's not clear what's going on. From the source, we understand the racist element in Stone's campaign approach. The last 2 points, about running the picture and talking to the press, are in reverse chronological order, per the source. In general, the article doesn't capture the picture of the hard-hitting politician that Stone was. You have plenty of sources to back that up. It should also be mentioned in the lead. Yoninah

Thank you for your time and your careful read. I reversed those two sentences to agree with the source. I summarized the Republican years and the Braun challenge in the lede, good idea, thanks. I trust our readers to understand why the subject of this article wanted the press to use his opponent's photograph and why he used it, without getting too too explicit, and I hope you do, too; 3 decades ago was a different time in Chicago politics and race relations and the episode sad as it was was not characteristic of the subject of this article such as it rises to the lede. I added some remembrances to the body and the lede, good ideas, thanks. Hugh (talk) 21:45, 20 August 2015 (UTC)
Please let me know if anyone has any questions or problems or outstanding issues. Thanks again to all. Hugh (talk) 23:24, 26 August 2015 (UTC)
  • Symbol confirmed.svg After checking most of the newly-added links, I believe this article is ready for the main page. I took out a bit more close paraphrasing, and didn't find any more. The first hook is more hooky, so I struck through the alt. To reiterate the review: Article nominated within 4 days of GA approval. New enough, long enough, well referenced, neutrally written, no close paraphrasing seen. Hook ref verified and cited inline. No QPQ needed for first-time nominator. Good to go.
