Babi Yar in poetry

  • Symbol possible vote.svg I am not entirely happy with the narrative of this article, which implies that the Soviets were as bad or worse than the Germans in their treatment of Poles, when Stalin killed an estimated 150,000 Poles compared to Hitler's approximately 6 million. Other than that, one statement in particular looks problematic: The combined forces of the Army Group South chased the fleeing Red Army across the territories of Poland annexed by the Soviets with the clear aim of physical annihilation of the Jews immediately suspected of helping them out. This makes it sound as if Hitler's primary purpose in invading the Soviet Union was the annihilation of the Jews, when his main motive was lebensraum ("living space" for the German people). So I think that statement at the very least needs to be refactored. Gatoclass (talk) 10:11, 9 March 2013 (UTC)
Done Thanks, Gatoclass. I see your point. Not everything can be said about the war in such a brief article about writings devoted to a single event. I removed the parts you mentioned, and created some stubs for the red links. Poeticbent talk 00:12, 10 March 2013 (UTC)
I don't see those changes as much of an improvement. I think I will do a little editing of the article myself - sometimes it's easier to fix the problems oneself than try to explain them to someone else. I'll try to get that done over the next few days. Gatoclass (talk) 06:21, 10 March 2013 (UTC)
Thanks, Gatoclass. I'll be looking forward to it. Poeticbent talk 17:24, 10 March 2013 (UTC) By the way, you inspired me to rewrite the second paragraph entirely. Check it out.Poeticbent talk 21:05, 10 March 2013 (UTC) – More revisions followed. How's it going? Poeticbent talk 18:29, 15 March 2013 (UTC)

It looks a little better but still has one or two issues IMO. Sorry about the delay in getting back to this, I've been caught up in other things, I will try to move this one forward early next week if not before. Gatoclass (talk) 04:02, 16 March 2013 (UTC)

I deleted some content that looked WP:COATRACKish and irrelevant. Unless you want to contest the deletion, the rest of the article looks fine to me and is probably ready for promotion. Gatoclass (talk) 06:11, 20 March 2013 (UTC)

Thanks, Gatoclass. Would you tick it please, I see no conflict of interest. Poeticbent talk 17:04, 20 March 2013 (UTC)
I have tweaked the hook to more accurately reflect the subject matter. Before taking this one further, how would you feel about moving the page to "Babi Yar in poetry" as one user on the talk page suggested? It looks like a more appropriate title to me. Gatoclass (talk) 07:38, 22 March 2013 (UTC)
Face-smile.svg Sure, please do. Go right ahead. Poeticbent talk 19:14, 22 March 2013 (UTC)
I moved it - the new name seems better. Aymatth2 (talk) 00:33, 23 March 2013 (UTC)
Updated contents of this page to reflect the move. BlueMoonset (talk) 00:42, 24 March 2013 (UTC)
  • Symbol confirmed.svg With the new move everything seems fine. Article length and age are fine, no copyvio or plagiarism concerns, reliable sources are used. Hook is confirmed here-- Esemono (talk) 07:25, 24 March 2013 (UTC)
