Aroma of Tacoma

Created by LavaBaron (talk). Self nominated at 17:09, 17 March 2015 (UTC).

  • Symbol question.svg The article is 1,464 prose bytes, thirty-six bytes short of 1,500-byte minimum requirement. A few more sentences will resolve this. However, I am not confident about its notability. Is merging to "Tacoma, Washington" article possible? George Ho (talk) 08:04, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
Thanks! I've updated the article and it should now have more than 1500 bytes. The article meets GNG, it is cited in references (as a topic in itself, not a brief aside in larger articles about the city of Tacoma), in the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the Tacoma News Tribune, the Spokane Spokesman-Review, one trade journal (Pulp and Paper Magazine), and a peer-reviewed scholarly journal (Journal of Business and Economic Statistics) over a period of dates spanning 1988 to 2011, and I could fairly easily come-up with another dozen sources. • Symbol voting keep.svg New reviewer here, with only 1 DYK previously, but I enjoy verifying and assessing writing. So I give qualified support to this DYK nomination: Article length:1611 characters; DYK nomination within 2 days of creation; no copyvio or plagiarism concerns. Meets GNG. Tacoma's aroma is well known and notable in the Pacific Northwest. While I agree this brief article could possibly be merged with Tacoma, Washington, there it would probably be perceived as giving undue weight to a negative perception of the city. It does stand on its own as a notable topic. I'm ambivalent, but favor support. — Grand'mere Eugene (talk) 05:34, 26 April 2015 (UTC)
  • Symbol confirmed.svg I second this nomination. It certainly meets GNG with its variety of state and national references, and even a scientific paper. I did a Google Books search and found the expression "Aroma of Tacoma" coming up again and again. I added a book chapter for further reading. Hook ref verified and cited inline. Good to go.
