Angelina (French singer)

Angelina at JESC 2018
Angelina at JESC 2018

Symbol question.svg Interesting early career, on mostly good sources, no copyvio obvious. I understand that you are not quite done, so I probably won't have to tell you to format refs. French sources accepted AGF, but can we get something better than facebook? The original hook, saying what is not, without even saying why it would be relevant to someone about whom we know no more than that she is know by first name only, doesn't work for me, but the ALT is fine. Perhaps link the abbreviation in the image caption because it may be there that a reader looks first. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:07, 27 December 2019 (UTC)
I forgot to say that the image is licensed, but I think the crop is too narrow, - her face doesn't show anyway, so we might have a bit more "around" her, no? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:10, 27 December 2019 (UTC)
Thank you! I'm gonna work on the article now and I'll try to find a better ref. And I will then experiment a little bit with the image and with the caption. (Maybe something like "Angelina at Junior Eurovision"? The caption will take up two lines like this, but it will be clearer.)
I need a couple of days. I must make myself reference everything right now (the sources are ready, they are on the talk page), and then I'll think about the picture. --Moscow Connection (talk) 16:15, 28 December 2019 (UTC)
Fine, take your time. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:37, 28 December 2019 (UTC)
Thank you for letting me know. I hope to be able to look later today, - on vacation. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:02, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
Symbol voting keep.svg I saw the image activities, and waited. French sources accepted AGF. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:36, 22 January 2020 (UTC)
  • Symbol question.svgTemplate:Ping could we have a new hook, please? This one is like a news item (with a subject unknown to most readers). Yoninah (talk) 22:41, 22 January 2020 (UTC)
Why? That is the - possibly one - thing she is known for, and that is pictured. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:10, 22 January 2020 (UTC)
  • Template:Ping and if we don't use the picture? We don't run hooks that just state where a person finished. Who is this person, anyway? More hook interest is needed here. Yoninah (talk) 23:12, 22 January 2020 (UTC)
It's a notable contest. We said much more boring things about some voice actresses. Remember Yū Sasahara? What do you expect from a young girl? - She is famous enough to be known by her first name - that's almost interesting enough for me. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:17, 22 January 2020 (UTC)
The source says:
With the song "Jamais sans toi", Angelina finished in second position [...] Delighted by the good score achieved by Angelina, the French delegation has taken the decision to confirm [the country's] participation in the next edition that will be held in Poland in November 2019. --Moscow Connection (talk) 04:19, 23 January 2020 (UTC)
Thank you for trying hard. I confess that I don't like the construction "AngelinaTemplate:`s (pictured) performance" at all, with that (pictured) holding up curiosity, - any way to rather say "Angelina (pictured) performed"? - I'd say return or continuation, not both, - we talk about the girl, not the history of France in the contest ;) - Please try one hook with her active. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:41, 23 January 2020 (UTC)
  • Thank you very much for the alts, Template:U. Template:U, we often run hooks with apostrophe-s followed by "(pictured)", and that really shouldn't hold up this nom. I like the idea of France's return after 14 years, and suggest tweaking ALT7 this way:
  • ALT7a: ... that AngelinaTemplate:`s (pictured) high-scoring performance at the 2018 Junior Eurovision marked France's return to the contest after 14 years? Yoninah (talk) 11:57, 23 January 2020 (UTC)
Symbol confirmed.svg if you say so, I approve it, but I believe we are missing a chance to grant her active voice ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:42, 23 January 2020 (UTC)
  • Template:U the word "marked" is active voice, it's just a verb in the past tense. A passive verb would be "has marked". Yoninah (talk) 19:10, 23 January 2020 (UTC)
Template:Reply to How about
Cause "high-scoring" sounds like something sports-related. --Moscow Connection (talk) 14:31, 23 January 2020 (UTC)

Template:Od how about dropping both? My take would be:

ALT7c: ... that when Angelina achieved a prize at the 2018 Junior Eurovision (performance pictured), it marked France's return to the contest after 14 years? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:41, 23 January 2020 (UTC)

That would be inaccurate, cause there's no prize for second place currently. (There was some years ago, but not anymore.) And I like my version better. :-) --Moscow Connection (talk) 15:17, 23 January 2020 (UTC)
I can't come up with a good active-voice sentence... I think ALT7b looks okay. --Moscow Connection (talk) 15:50, 23 January 2020 (UTC)
Symbol confirmed.svg then you get another unconvinced approval. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:25, 23 January 2020 (UTC)
ALT7d: ... that the performance of Angelina at the 2018 Junior Eurovision (pictured), achieving second place, marked France's return to the contest after 14 years? --Gerda Arendt (talk)
I like ALT7a and ALT7b better. :-) --Moscow Connection (talk) 17:21, 23 January 2020 (UTC)
I want this go into the top slot, so I think it would be wise to agree with Template:U. :-) So I prefer ALT7a and ALT7b. ALT7a is good, but I think ALT7b is a bit better. --Moscow Connection (talk) 17:30, 23 January 2020 (UTC)
Then I misunderstood you, - I heard that you found high-scoring too sporty. Unwatching. Can someone please review Litanies (Mozart), - getting nervous. I am busy expanding the signature building of an architect who celebrates his 100th birthday today! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:55, 23 January 2020 (UTC)
As far as I can see, "Litanies (Mozart)" has already been reviewed by Template:U. He suggested a better wording for the hook, that's all. --Moscow Connection (talk) 18:31, 23 January 2020 (UTC)
