Symbol confirmed.svg Length 5x expanded within date, fascinating read and good use of quotes, tidy references. Sources excellent, hook well sourced and interesting. QPQ done. Fair use image. Gareth E. Kegg (talk) 10:31, 23 March 2016 (UTC)
Symbol question.svg Template:U I'm having difficulty verifying the following hook facts "joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force at the start of World War One". The DYK rules state that inline citations should be placed no later that the end of the sentence for hook facts. One might assume it is backed up by a document hosted at www.cmp-cpm.forces.gc.ca (this is the first inline citation used after the hook details are written in Military service), but I searched for the word "Andrew" and "Ross" in it and came up empty. Any chance you can help me out here? Jolly Ω Janner 07:40, 4 April 2016 (UTC)
  • Template:U My apologies, the inline citation must have got lost as I expanded the article. I have just checked the source (Sewell) and added the reference at the right point. FunkyCanute (talk) 10:46, 4 April 2016 (UTC)
  • Template:U "Two weeks later, according to his correspondence, he was in training with the Second Canadian Division," This only verifies that he trained with the Second Canadian Division. His joining of the Canadian Expeditionary Force is still unreferenced. Jolly Ω Janner 16:10, 4 April 2016 (UTC)
  • The 2nd Canadian Division was part of the Canadian Expeditionary Force. FunkyCanute (talk) 11:16, 5 April 2016 (UTC)
  • Symbol redirect vote 4.svg This hook needs to go into Prep 3 or Prep 4 at the latest. All the preps are filled and about to be promoted to queues, and this nomination hasn't been approved. Template:Ping is it ready to promote? Yoninah (talk) 20:04, 5 April 2016 (UTC)
  • I have cleared a slot and put a place marker in Prep 3 (soon to be Queue 3) for this hook. Yoninah (talk) 20:11, 5 April 2016 (UTC)
  • Symbol voting keep.svg e/c Template:U we're good here. Being part of the Second Canadian Division means it's rather uncontroversial that he served with the Canadian Expeditionary Force. I don't see the need or point of explaining this fact in prose in the article, nor referencing it. I'm confident that the hook is now accurate and verifiable (although offline). Were you considering using the image? It's not fair-use, but apparently free use. I'm a little concerned, because the license tag doesn't make any sense for its UK public domain status. It states the author died at least 70 years ago, but the author was a company? Definitely free for use on en Wikipedia if you wanted to transfer it, however. Jolly Ω Janner 20:14, 5 April 2016 (UTC)
