  • ALT1: ... that the music of Bach's cantata Alles, was von Gott geboren, BWV 80a, composed in Weimar (church pictured) for Oculi, the third Sunday in Lent, is lost, but he later expanded some of the music in BWV 80?
  • I've struck the original hook because, if I'm reading things correctly, the cantata was written for Oculi, but the date of the first performance is uncertain. And, as you mentioned, the original was a little awkward; I think my ALT is slightly less awkward, but feel free to edit it. Everything looks fine. One source is offline and in German, and, for some reason, I can't reach the online source. The hook facts are referenced to the offline source. One minor thing...
  • Symbol possible vote.svg DYK rules require an inline ref immediately after the hook fact. The "music is lost" part has a ref at the end of the paragraph. If it was an online source I'd add a ref after the hook fact myself, but I wouldn't want to do that for an offline one. MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 21:29, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
  • Thanks for looking with attention to details. As for Oculi, the year is uncertain, but both years it was the third Sunday in Lent, related to the prescribed readings. I duplicated the online ref for the "lost" (sorry I missed it), the other online Sources say "nicht erhalten" (Bach website) and "verschollen" (University of Alberta). I suggest to drop the 3rd Sunday, we are past the 6th, saying "most" instead of "some" (4 of 6 movements, and one not taken is the closing choral, replaced by a different setting of the same melody):
  • Pictogram voting keep.svg Thanks for duplicating the ref after the hook fact. I was thrown off by the different dates, but I should have realized that you were correct and they were both Oculi, just of different years. (It's too bad it took sixteen days for this to get reviewed – not exactly the "speedy processing" you were hoping for – but at least it's approved now....)
