Allan Kournikova

  • ... that Anna Kournikova's brother, Allan, was featured in the 2013 documentary film The Short Game which showed him winning his second of three consecutive U.S. Kids Golf World Championships?

Created/expanded by TonyTheTiger (talk). Self nominated at 20:35, 22 June 2014 (UTC).

  • Not a full review, just noting that if The Short Game is supposed to be part of the nomination, then it's a bit – short. Schwede66 06:12, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
  • QPQs done (this QPQ is review of a multi-nom, so it qualifies). --Storye book (talk) 12:47, 13 July 2014 (UTC)
  • Allan Kournikova is new enough (created 22 June, nom 22 June) and it's long enough. The article text is objective, neutral, and fully referenced. No problems with disambig links or with access to external links. Spot checks revealed no copyvio or close paraphrasing. --Storye book (talk) 12:47, 13 July 2014 (UTC)
  • The Short Game is new enough (created 18 June), and it's long enough. Text is objective (but see issue below) and is fully sourced. No problems with disambig links (manually checked). No problems with access to external links were found (spot checks done). Spot checks showed no copyvio or close paraphrasing. Issue: Re neutrality: Even though the subject is a US movie made primarily for a US audience, we still can't have US-centric language in a DYK nom, and "Americans and foreigners" is US-centric. Please change it to something like "children from America and other countries"?--Storye book (talk) 12:47, 13 July 2014 (UTC)
  • Hook: In the Allan Kournikova article, the hook is written there, and the online citation #10 confirms that Allan is featured in the documentary movie, but it does not confirm that the movie shows him winning any championship. Similarly, in the Short Game article, online citation #4 confirms that he is in the movie, and mentions his "upcoming" golf tournament, but it doesn't say he defended it or won it.--Storye book (talk) 12:47, 13 July 2014 (UTC)
  • Summary: Issues are (1) neutrality problem in The Short Game article, and (2) either a citation is needed in both articles for winning the championship mentioned in the hook, or another hook is needed. (3) Hook should be written out in full in both articles, with inline citations covering all of the hook (sorry, 2 and 3 overlap, my bad). When these issues are resolved, this nom should be OK. --Storye book (talk) 12:47, 13 July 2014 (UTC)
  • According to Storye book's user and user talk pages, a dead computer is the problem, and no return to reviewing until repairs are done. Another reviewer will be needed. BlueMoonset (talk) 21:25, 27 July 2014 (UTC)
Symbol question.svg (Stepping in for Storye book) Although those added citations document that he won, they do not document that the film showed him winning (only that he featured in the film). If you want to use this hook you need to add a citation to both articles for The Short Game showing Kournikova winning the championship. And if you ever use "threepeated" in an article again, the world will end. Belle (talk) 16:02, 28 July 2014 (UTC)
Template:U, I think you are asking me why I can't find articles that give away the ending. Obviously movie publicity shies away from giving away the ending. We have citations that the movie is about the event and we have citations that he won the event. We will not find articles about the movie that give away the ending (that he won the event). Since this is non-fiction, we can actually use the citations about the results of the event to explain how the movie ended.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 16:15, 28 July 2014 (UTC)
I don't really buy that as a reason for not being able to find a citation to support the hook (for example, Senna (film) has a source which gives away the ending). That The Short Game features Kournikove and that Kournikova won the tournament does not mean that the film must show Kournikova winning the tournament (since we know it is not unusual for the subjects of documentaries to withdraw co-operation or permission midway through filming or for other factors to cause a change in the focus by the film-maker) Belle (talk) 16:43, 28 July 2014 (UTC)
How is this ALT?--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 17:10, 28 July 2014 (UTC)
Symbol confirmed.svg I've removed the "2013" as "2013...2012" was a bit much, but apart from that ALT1 is OK. Passing with ALT1 on the basis that Storye book's outstanding concerns have been dealt with. Belle (talk) 17:21, 28 July 2014 (UTC)
