All India Azad Muslim Conference

Created by Anupam (talk). Self-nominated at 23:48, 30 January 2019 (UTC).

  • Symbol possible vote.svg Template:Ping Full review to follow, but I would suggest (as advice and not as requirement) that the article be reorganized; right now the lede is longer than any of the other sections (including the History section if you exclude the quote). Perhaps some of the content in the lede could be moved to the History section or be discussed in a new section? Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 00:18, 5 February 2019 (UTC)
  • Template:Ping Are you still going to work on this article? It's been more than a month since the last edits to it, and none of my suggestions were worked on. Once this is done I can give this a review. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 20:28, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
User:Narutolovehinata5, I will restructure the lede shortly. I hope this helps. With regards, AnupamTalk 21:49, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
I have expanded the article significantly User:Narutolovehinata5. The lede of the article as it is (though I did move some some information to the "History" section as you suggested) summarizes the body of the article. Thanks, AnupamTalk 03:34, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for the edits. The article looks much better now and I'm tentatively approving this (it meets the requirements and the hook fact is cited inline and is interesting). The only concern I have remaining is that the hook could be rewritten slightly since it mentions "India" twice in quick succession. Template:Ping Once this is resolved, this will be good to go. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 01:30, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
Thank you User:Narutolovehinata5. I've edited the hook to remove one of those instances of the word "India". I hope this helps. With regards, AnupamTalk 04:56, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
  • Symbol question.svg Thanks. Almost ready as the article meets most of the DYK requirements, and the hook is interesting and cited inline. Just needs a copyedit to fix grammar issues such as missing commas or improper capitalizations, and this will be good to go. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 00:34, 6 March 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply User:Narutolovehinata5. Feel free to make the adjustments you feel are necessary. Kind regards, AnupamTalk 21:03, 6 March 2019 (UTC)
User:Narutolovehinata5, the article was just copyedited and improved. I hope it would be good to go now. With regards, AnupamTalk 02:55, 21 March 2019 (UTC)
Although I tweaked a bit in the lead and the first paragraph of the history section, I haven't fully copy-edited the whole article; I'll try to do so today. Cheers, --SkyGazer 512 My talk page 15:18, 27 March 2019 (UTC)
Template:Ping I've tried to clean up the grammar and clarify some statements in the article the best I could, but I'm not familiar with the topic so I couldn't do as much as I'd like. Although DYK does not require that all statements are perfectly clear, there are a few things I noticed that would be beneficial to fix before this appears on the main page and I could not fix myself.
The lead says Template:Tq, but the article body states that there were multiple meetings ("Meetings of the All India Azad Muslim Conference were frequent in the 1940s") and that the conference was established in 1929. Therefore, it was more than just a large gathering in April 1940. Another thing I noticed is that the next-to-last paragraph of the history section is unsourced and imo, unclear. It says Template:Tq, but the article itself is the "All India Azad Muslim Conference". I can't figure out what this means; was there another group that had a conference and you accidentally put this instead? Did the article's subject have another conference? Clarification would be appreciated.
Thank you very much for your work on the article so far, Anupam, it's a very interesting read!--SkyGazer 512 My talk page 03:25, 30 March 2019 (UTC)
I appreciate your hard work User:SkyGazer 512! When I initially started doing research on the topic I intended to write about the single session that was held in Delhi but then expanded the article to include other sessions of the organisation. I have thus rewritten the first sentence to reflect the entirety of the article. Additionally, the unsourced sentence was in my personal notes--that's why there was no reference there. I did not mean to publish it and have thus removed it. I hope this helps and trust that the process can now move forward! With regards, AnupamTalk 06:54, 30 March 2019 (UTC)
Thank you, Template:U, that looks much better. Pinging Template:U to see if this can be approved now! Cheers, --SkyGazer 512 My talk page 13:07, 30 March 2019 (UTC)
  • This is almost, almost ready. My last remaining concern is that there's no information listed as to why the organization disbanded, or what its ultimate legacy was. Once this is addressed I will gladly give this the tick. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 01:30, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
While I wasn't able to find any information on a formal dissolution of the organisation, I did find information about its legacy—that is—why it was sidelined and failed to influence the Indian politics. I added that information to the article so it should be good to go now User:Narutolovehinata5. I hope this helps. With regards, AnupamTalk 16:19, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
Thanks, I think this is ready to go now. Accepting in good faith the quote given as a source. The article now meets DYK requirements, as such I'm now approving this. Symbol voting keep.svg Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 02:50, 3 April 2019 (UTC)
