Alfred Vökt

Created by Gerda Arendt (talk). Self-nominated at 06:13, 30 May 2019 (UTC).

  • I'm going to be frank here, the current hook has too much information. It requires knowledge of certain opera names and opera titles. And a hook about an opera actor playing a role is, to paraphrase another editor, a "so what?" hook. The part about him actually having a Ph.D in law is actually a lot more interesting and we should probably focus on that instead.
ALT1 ... that Swiss tenor Alfred Vökt had a Ph.D. in law?

Sorry, I object. "Tenor" alone is way too vague. Who cares if he was Swiss, when his whole career was in Germany? It says a lot about a singer that he sares to tackle a new work, and that he is good enough to be chosen for the task. It's an opera with an interesting (3 versions) history, - that's what I want to display, not only the person and what he studied but never practised, as far as we know. Imagine it was about your father, please. Compromise:
ALT2: ... that the tenor Alfred Vökt, who had a Ph.D. in law, performed in the premiere of Henze's Il re cervo? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:51, 31 May 2019 (UTC)
  • Template:U, if you want to highlight that the opera has an interesting 3 versions history, they say that in the hook. Don't assume that non-musician readers are going to know or care about your allusion. Yoninah (talk) 14:21, 31 May 2019 (UTC)
  • You misunderstood me, sorry. There was a complaint that the hook had too much information. The performance history of the opera has nothing to do with the singer, - I don't recall if he also sang in the performance of the third version. (If I find he didm that miht be worth mentioning. - Other than the German Wikipedia, we can have extra links in hooks, - so they can go to something worth knowing. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:26, 31 May 2019 (UTC)

Symbol redirect vote 4.svg this nomination still needs a DYK policy review. Flibirigit (talk) 13:58, 19 June 2019 (UTC)

  • Symbol voting keep.svg This article is new enough and long enough. I have rearranged Gerda's suggested hook into ALT3. The hook facts are cited inline, the article is neutral and I detected no copyright or plagiarism issues. A QPQ has been done. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 05:52, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
Thank you, ALT3 is fine, but Alt1 is too poor, mentioning nothing of what he is known for, - striking. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:52, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
