  • ... that sculptor Alfred Gilbert (pictured) fled England twice, once for love, once for money? Source: ODNB - https://doi.org/10.1093/ref:odnb/33398 - "The decision to leave England was forced on Gilbert: he was in love with his first cousin Alice Jane Gilbert (1847–1916) and when he learned that they were expecting a child, the couple eloped on 3 January 1876, marrying the same day" and "In August 1901 he declared himself bankrupt. He sent his family to Bruges while he saw to the selling of the contents of his house and studio."
    • ALT1:... that the creator of the Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain (pictured) fled England twice? Source: ODNB - https://doi.org/10.1093/ref:odnb/33398 - "his next important sculptural commission, the Shaftesbury memorial in Piccadilly Circus, London, unveiled in 1893" and "The decision to leave England was forced on Gilbert: he was in love with his first cousin Alice Jane Gilbert (1847–1916) and when he learned that they were expecting a child, the couple eloped on 3 January 1876, marrying the same day" and "In August 1901 he declared himself bankrupt. • ALT2:... that Victorian sculptor Alfred Gilbert (pictured) pursued perfection until it nearly destroyed him? Source: ODNB - https://doi.org/10.1093/ref:odnb/33398 - "But he was a perfectionist. The simplest portrait bust would take him four or five years to execute, whereas for anything really ambitious the client could expect to wait eight or ten years. He was extravagant and generous, both with his money and with the bronze casts he gave to friends. Gradually worries over money came to dominate his life"

  • Symbol voting keep.svg Template:Ping This article is a newly promoted GA and is long enough and nominated soon enough. The image is suitably licensed, the article is neutral and I detected no copyright issues. Approving ALT0, the hook facts being cited inline, but not ALT1, which needs a different image, or ALT2, which is not cited inline, as far as I can see. A QPQ has been done. • Hiya, thanks for the review. The alternative image for ALT1 is given above in the comment. ALT2 was based mainly on this sentence "The perfectionist Gilbert spent too much time and money on the commission" which has the ODNB reference on it. That all doesn't necessarily matter if you prefer ALT0 since that is my preferred hook as well. Cheers, Mujinga (talk) 10:57, 21 August 2020 (UTC)
