Abdul Samay Hamed

  • ... that satirist Abdul Samay Hamed was attacked by a knife-wielding man, but succeeded in disarming his attacker?

Created/expanded by Khazar (talk). Self nom at 12:02, 3 February 2012 (UTC)

  • Symbol confirmed.svg New, long enough, referenced, hook cited, etc. Jrcla2 (talk) 22:16, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

Symbol possible vote.svg Close paraphrasing concerns. For example, "an ironic parody of news events" and "he was confronted on the street" are both verbatim from the source, and other material is structurally very close. Nikkimaria (talk) 19:36, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

  • Please hold, I will look into it. I just received such a nice barnstar from him, it almost made me cry, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:37, 6 February 2012 (UTC)
Symbol redirect vote 4.svg I made the first concern a quote because I could not say it better, and tried to rephrase the other. The structure looks chronological to me in the article, not so in the source. Do I miss anything? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:36, 7 February 2012 (UTC)
ALT1: ... that satirist Abdul Samay Hamed was attacked in Kabul by a knife-wielding man, but succeeded in disarming his attacker? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:38, 7 February 2012 (UTC)
  • Symbol confirmed.svg Date length and hook for ALT1 all OK, Good to go. Although I think it's absurd that it's been left for this long. The C of E. God Save The Queen! (talk) 20:33, 25 May 2012 (UTC)
  • Symbol question.svg Still a bit of work needed here. Compare for example "he was trained in medicine, he has devoted his career to promoting freedom of expression" with "Hamed was trained as a physician, but he views his primary work as the promotion of freedom of expression", or "He also was a frequent contributor to the BBC's Dari service, often criticizing local warlords" with "A frequent commentator for the BBC's Dari service...he criticized the power of local warlords". Also, is there something wrong with this source? When I try to open it, it appears that one side is cut off. Nikkimaria (talk) 03:02, 26 May 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, the source looks cut off to me too, though you can read it through the underlying HTML (Ctrl-U in most browsers, right-click -> View Source in Internet Explorer). Shubinator (talk) 12:46, 26 May 2012 (UTC)
That helps, but we're still losing at least part of the interview that begins at the bottom of the page. Nikkimaria (talk) 13:51, 26 May 2012 (UTC)
I did the two suggested copyedits, but I can't fix the webpage. PumpkinSky talk 21:16, 26 May 2012 (UTC)
Sorry, all-- I didn't realize this was still active or I would have made the requested fixes myself. (I'm watching it now, though). I don't know what's wrong with CPJ's site, but the text can be seen by using cut-and-paste to move the text into a word processor. Ironically, I'm busy removing copyvio from Houla massacre, but I'll try to double-check the language later this afternoon to move this one further from the gray area. Cheers, Khazar2 (talk) 21:38, 26 May 2012 (UTC)
Btw, a cleaner copy of the interview text can be seen here. [1] Khazar2 (talk) 21:48, 26 May 2012 (UTC)
Okay, I've done my own tweaks on the prose as well. Thanks everybody who's helped with this one so far. Khazar2 (talk) 21:55, 26 May 2012 (UTC)
Looks good now, thanks. Nikkimaria (talk) 02:30, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for being patient with me; I'm greatly embarrassed by my sloppiness on this one. Cheers, Khazar2 (talk) 03:57, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
