1981 Benson & Hedges Cup Final

Created by Harrias (talk). Self-nominated at 12:55, 9 March 2020 (UTC).

  • The article was created on 9 March 2020 and nominated on the same day. On top of being nominated within 7 days, the article also attained GA status on 12 March 2020. It is long enough and within policy (Earwigs catches near about zilch). The hook content is present in the article and cited inline - "Richards' score of 132 not out, and Garner's bowling figures of five for 14 were both records in a Benson & Hedges Cup final."
  • However I have one issue with the framing and interpretation of the hook. When I first read the hook, it sounded like a they made a record in general, but the article says in just the "Benson & Hedges Cup final" with sort of changes the meaning a lot. Is it just me misinterpreting the structure or would you agree that it could easily be misread it?
  • The citation over at newspapers.com says right at the beginning that Richards made a record; but the record is not that he made 132, but that it was a third consecutive century in a Lord's final; or do both mean the same thing? Also I didn't find the keyword record attached to Garner anywhere. Are you referring to the line - "but Garner would be my man every time in a limited over match. His five wickets for 14 runs was was as good a piece of bowling I have seen in a long time."
  • QPQ remaining. DTM (talk) 09:22, 17 March 2020 (UTC)
  • Template:Ping Right at the end of the Observer piece, it says "Besides the best bowling figures for a B and H final from Garner, Somerset's supporters could also acclaim the highest score, by that man Richards." There is nothing factual incorrect about the hook, though I agree that the wrong inference could be taken. But that is nothing new for DYK hooks. Harrias talk 09:30, 17 March 2020 (UTC)
  • QPQ also done. Good to go. Symbol confirmed.svg DTM (talk) 10:35, 17 March 2020 (UTC)
