1973 Belmont Stakes

  • ... that Secretariat won by 31 lengths in the 1973 Belmont Stakes, the largest margin of victory in the history of the race? Source: "... chopping more than a bitesize chunk off the Belmont Stakes record and winning by 31 lengths."
    • ALT1:... that the winning time in the 1973 Belmont Stakes was an American record for a mile and a half? Source: "His time of 2:24 for 1 1/2 miles set a world record many argue may never be broken."

Symbol question.svg Detailed article full of aspects, well sourced, no copyvio obvious. Too bad we can't have an image. Both facts are stunning! If you want to go with the original, try to change the order, or people will arrive at the horse. For the ALT1, I'd say that this record is still unbroken. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:09, 16 October 2017 (UTC)
I could add "which still stands today" to ALT1, but that claim is risky and I suggest we forget about it. How about ALT2? Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:19, 17 October 2017 (UTC)
