Çanakkale 1915

Comment: Found a 224 characters (39 word stub at AFD. Was easy to improve and expand to a 1222 characters (201 word) start class... an easy 5x expansion.

  • Symbol possible vote.svg The article has only 1,250 (approx.) characters of narrative text. To be eligible for DYK, an article needs a minimum of 1,500 characters of narrative text. So, as things stand, this does not qualify. However, if this can be expanded further, ping me and I'll take another look. (Also, this could not be passed for DYK until the pending AfD is closed as keep [which appears likely] or no consensus.) Cbl62 (talk) 16:47, 27 April 2015 (UTC)
  • I'll ping you when I get it longer. Translating from Turkey is difficult. Schmidt, Michael Q. 07:08, 28 April 2015 (UTC)
  • Michael - Thank you for expanding further. The article is now over 1500 characters and is out of AfD. (Nice rescue work.) This may seem picky, but the plot sentence with one very short sentence saying that the movie is about the Gallipoli campaign in 1915 strikes me as being way too short and lacking. I notice from one of the sources when I did a google search that the story is based on the memoirs of Salih Bozok, which traces the life of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Ataturk was the founder of modern Turkey and gained fame for his role in the war. Bozok was Ataturk's aide de camp during the war. Any chance you could beef up the plot section at least a wee bit before this goes to the main page? Cbl62 (talk) 15:15, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
  • Template:Ping I did some digging, and made some sourced additions to the article, but an issue I found is that the film actually does more than just "trace the life of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk". It is set as a series of vignettes that capture the rise of Turkish nationalism after the Balkan War as the Turks rose up, set their goals, and defeated their opponents.[1] The film actually "based on the memoirs of Salih Bozok, which traces the life of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk" is Veda (film).[2] As the sources I found tell us the film was screen-written by Turgut Özakman based upon his own novel Diriliş: Çanakkale 1915, I did not find what you did to tell readers that the film is based upon anything else but what the RS repeatedly tells us.
