Use {{Access indicator}} to produce an icon indicating an access policy for online content such as academic journals. This template supports generating icons for open access, open access green, paywall, and hybrid. This template was created for indicating a journals access status that is part of a list or table. For tagging of a citation please use {{open access}} and {{closed access}} instead.

Usage

In any context where a visual indication of access policy is needed, use {{Access indicator}} to generate an image that indicates the policy. The image is linked to the appropriate article and has suitable alternative text set for non-visual user agents.

The template takes two positional parameters; the first indicates which access policy to generate an image for, and the second indicates the display size of the generated image.

  • |1=: One of open, closed, green or hybrid. Each will generate an icon suitable to indicate the associated access policy. Users of this template are encouraged to explain the details of the specific hybrid access policy on the pages where it is used. Defaults to option open.
  • |2=: The desired vertical size for the generated icon in any format that is valid for specifying height in the [[File:…]] wikimarkup (see Help:Images for details). Sizes smaller than 12 pixels is not recommended as the relevant logos become increasingly hard to distinguish at smaller sizes. It is however recommended to always specify the size to guard against future changes to the default size. Defaults to size 18px.
