Taco Bell is an American-based chain of fast food restaurants originating in Irvine, California in 1962, by Glen Bell. Taco Bell is an auxiliary of Yum! Brands, Inc. The restaurants serve an assortment of Mexican-inspired food sources, that include: tacos, burritos, quesadillas, nachos,  novelty and specialty items, alongside with a variety of "value menu" items.[1] Taco Bell was established by Glen Bell, an entrepreneur who opened a hot dog stand called Bell's Drive in San Bernardino, California in 1948. The name went through a few changes, from Taco-Tia through El Taco, prior to choosing Taco Bell.[2]

Naked Chicken Chalupa ad

The ad, in the style of a vintage public declaration, features a man opening up his dinner and discarding the packaging away. In the first version of the advertisement, the paper misses a garbage bin and hits an infant carriage, which is being pushed by a black woman.[3]

Controversy

This ad caused the controversy because as indicated by AgencySpy, a telecaster coincidentally broadcasted the first version of the advertisement, which is why the video lands on social media. Some watchers found the advertisement "bigot" and promised to never eat at Taco Bell again.[4]

Clarification

After the controversy, Taco bell delivered an altered version of the scene where the man tosses the paper straightforwardly into the trash can. They also released an explanation saying 'sorry' for the commercial, saying,  “We had no intention of upsetting anyone with this ad and apologize to anyone who was offended. We immediately re-edited the commercial and removed the original version from the air.”[5]
