Black Empowerment Commercials

Dreams Realized by Sprite[2]

Sprite released the "Dreams Realized" commercial during the 2020 BET Awards. The commercial creation was assisted by Cam Kirk, a hip-hop photographer, in curating the content of the video. As racism has become a more serious issue than has ever before, Sprite gives a bold statement in fighting racism which is shown in "Dreams Realized". Moreover, Sprite also pledged to donate US$ 500,000 to the Black Lives Matter movement[3].

The video contains picture shots and video clips showing how African Americans make their own dream as said by the narrator "Black Americans woke up a long time ago and set out to make their own dream".[4]. It can be seen from the video that America has created the world's highest standard of living, but it can not be felt by the African Americans. The video also says "The American Dream was built on the backs and genius of Black people, yet Black success is rarely measured by accomplishments -- rather, it's measured by the ability to get out."[5]. In the end, Sprite says that they believe in Black America's dream as it is the real American dream. "Sprite says that Black dreams matter. Black voices matter. Black lives matter"[6].
