Pros

Angela Chester wrote her detailed feelings about this book, she even rated it five stars. She described this book is presented from the point of view of the grandmother to the grandchildren. She thought this was brilliant, not just because she was an elder, instead, because many times information from someone other than mom and dad with different authority and tone is better accepted. She added just enough information to make it a lesson (Black people invented the refrigerator, air conditioner, and traffic light) without it being boring or too overwhelming for not only the young person reading (or listening to the story) but for the reader (adult) as well. It's fun and informative. The colors used in the illustration are eye-catching but not overly bright. Fun children color without looking silly at the same time. The best part about the illustrations is that the characters look like real people. They were not exaggerated or look like dark versions of other races, they looked like beautiful Black children. She would suggest this book to everyone she knew that services Black children. She applauds everyone on this project.[2]
