Hella F**kin’ Trauma

Hella F**kin’ Trauma is a protest song released on soundcloud June 7, 2020 by rapper Juicy J. This song is written in response to racist violence in America that sparked protests in many of major cities following the death of George Floyd. [1]

The track tells systematic racism, reparations, the carceral system and current situation of COVID-19, “Why they lock up all the real ones, man? Enough is enough/Labels wanna own my masters, enough is enough.” [2]

Key Lyrics

When they gon' stop killin' niggas man? Enough is enough

Why they lock up all the real ones man? Enough is enough

Labels wanna own my masters, enough is enough

I can't hit you on your Cashapp, enough is enough

You gon' be a hater all your life, enough is enough

Got me ready to ride 'round with that pipe, enough is enough

Man, that shit ain't right, I know my rights, enough is enough

I can't sit back, let 'em take my life, enough is enough [3]

Black Empowerment

The song refers to police brutality, killings, as well as Juicy J's story of being enslaved by record labels. This song also focuses on racial injustice explained on the first verse, “All this racist shit gon’ fuck around and make me send it up.” Several lines referencing about COVID-19, Marshall Law, and reparations. “ain’t scared of the cops,” believes there’s a revolution, and suggests unity (“I gotta live for my brothers / But we gotta stop killin’ each other”). [4]

The chorus of the song combines the tales of the rapper’s friends in jail, the deaths of African-American people at the hands of law enforcement. [5]
