Gucci (/ˈɡuːtʃi/, GOO-chee; Italian pronunciation: [ˈɡuttʃi]) is a luxury fashion house that manufactures in Florence, Italy, [1] and famous for it product-lines including handbags, ready-to-wear, shoes, and accessories (including jewelry and watches). Gucci also produces makeup and fragrances as well as developing a home decoration division (Gucci Décor).

Gucci was established in 1921 by Guccio Giovanbattista Giacinto Dario Maria Gucci in Florence, Tuscany, where he sold imported leather bag and later on prodiced his own handbags. [2] Under the direction of Aldo Gucci (son of Guccio), Gucci became a worldwide-known brand, an icon of the Italian Dolce Vita. Following family fights during the 1980s, the Gucci family was totally expelled from the capital of the organization by 1993. the brand was restored with a provocative 'Porno Chic' props. In 1999, Gucci was acquired by the French conglomerate Pinault Printemps Redoute. During the 2010s, Gucci turned into a notorious 'Nerd Chic' brand.

Gucci's holding organization Guccio Gucci S.p.A. is based in Florence, Italy, and is an auxiliary of the French extravagance group Kering. By 2019, under the direction of Marco Bizarri as CEO and Alessandro Michele as Creative Dorector, Gucci worked 540 stores for 14,628 representatives. The organization created €9.628 billion in income (€8.2 billion out of 2018), and €3,947 billion in benefits (€3.2 billion out of 2018). [3]

Controversy

In February 2019, Gucci eliminated a dark balaclava knot sweater with a rollup collar and a cut-out red-lipped mouth from its racks, which was part of the fall/winter 2018 assortment and was sold for $890, after it had been compared with a blackface outfit.[4] The sweater got an enormous reaction after a few Twitter and Instagram user called attention to the way that it happened in Black History Month.[5] Alessandro Michele reacted that his motivation came from the flamboyant Leigh Bowery however apologized for the manner in which it had been deciphered. To address this issue, Gucci dispatched the 'Gucci North America Changemakers Scholarship' program committed to foster diversity inside the fasnion business with a $5-million yearly fund to help non-profits and local area based community associated with "the African-American community and communities of color at-large".[6]
