DC Talk

Pros

The LA Riots happened in 1992 of beating Rodney King by officers. Once again, race became the main topic of the conversation. The track gave explicit lyrics about racial equality and all being made by God. This song is talking about inequality and injustice in society that made us aware of the issues. [2]

Quoted from the line of the song :

“Ignorance has wronged some races / And vengeance is the Lord's / If we aspire to share this space / Repentance is the cure" [3]

According to breathecast.com, "At the time the album achieved the highest first week sales in Christian music history. ...Within 30 days Jesus Freak became a Gold record and as of now stands at Double Platinum," indicating more than two million sales. "Part of us is message-oriented; another part is entertainment driven," Max said. "Just as we all share the idea of caring and conscience, we also share the hunger to find truth and meaning in life." [4]

Here is the part of the lyrics of Colored People by DC Talk about appreciating diversity given by God:

A piece of canvas is only the beginning

It takes on character with every loving stroke

This thing of beauty is the passion of an artist's heart

By God's design, we are a skin kaleidoscope [5]
