Key Lyrics

Baby, there's a war right outside our window

Don't you hear the people fighting for their lives?

Baby, there's a war right outside our window

But it's gon' be alright 'long as I got you with me

In your arms, I find my shelter

Deep in your love, I will hide

Baby, you and me stop the world when we're together

You find a way to take my mind [3]

Better Days is a plea for a more peaceful and optimistic future in the U.S after tragic violence (again) and shootings happened in the country. The song was originally released in June honoring the victims of Orlando’s Pulse nightclub massacre.

“During this challenging time, we have to remember that the only way we will progress is if the overruling force is #Love,” Grande wrote on Instagram. “Music is a universal language that all of us can feel regardless of color lines, gender, sexuality, age, race, religion … it unifies us. We believe we can not fight hate with hate, only love. Just as we can not fight darkness with more darkness. Only Light.” [4]

Ariana took to her Instagram account about the recent death incident that is taking lives of Alton Sterling, Philando Castile, and five Dallas police officers, “Too many precious live were taken from us this week, this month, this year. Stay strong and know that better days are coming.”

Monét also has to EPs Nightmares & Lullabies: Acts 1 and 2, which released in 2014 and the following year, 2015, and has written songs for artists including Fifth Harmony, Janelle Monáe, and her duet partner Ariana Grande. “I’m heartbroken by all of the recent tragedies [that] came as a result of hatred, racism, and injustice,” she wrote on Instagram. “To all of the lives taken pointlessly, we will not let you be forgotten. You have sparked change in this world with your angel wings. Rest In Peace.”

The track is a hopeful plea with lyrics, “Baby, there’s a war outside our window, but it’s gon’ be all right as long as I got you and me” and “Come together, we deserve it.” as well as "I'm praying for the people right outside our window." "Hoping they find peace at night, just like you and me." [5] [6]
