Michelle Obama grows up in a middle-class family in the South Side of Chicago. Her childhood is filled with happiness as her family gives high support on education despite the struggle they have to face to earn the money. As she goes to school. her determination to follow her brother has paid off where she gets into Princeton. She graduates Magna cum laude in sociology and decides to take law school at Harvard. After she excels in her master's, she goes back to Chicago and work s at a law firm there. Later, she meets Barack Obama who is also an outstanding student at Harvard Law School. After two years, she faces a calamitous situation, her father dies, and unpassionate job, however, Barack proposes to her and marries in the summer of 1992. After going through several positions, Barack becomes a senator, her children's health, racist shoutout, and sexism, Michelle Obama goes to the White House since Barack Obama is elected to be the President of the USA. By becoming the First Lady of the USA, she establishes many education, health, and support programs such as Let's Move!, Joining Forces, Reach Higher and Let Girls Learn. After eight years of presidency, Barack and Michelle set off their positions and giving the position to the ones that they do not support to be the President yet, Michelle retains the confidence as the story would go on well[3].

Black Empowerment

Michelle joins the Third World Center (TWC), an organization on her college life, that gives support to colored students. She is comforted and encouraged to set successful life for empowering the other colored people. The support had strengthened Michelle's determination, Michelle then never feel intimidated anymore in the class for standing out and excelling in the subject. Michelle shows never let anybody's opinion including discrimination to discourage someone's determination as a race difference is not something that should never frighten someone's life[4]. Michelle also mentions that Obama becomes a lecturer in racism class at the University of Chicago. He aspires many colored people including African Americans to be not discouraged for their race and the history of how racism exists[5].

Controversy

Michelle Obama describes how the discrimination has led to poverty for African Americans. For instance, when giant manufacturers look for employees, they would hire European immigrants instead of African Americans despite the African Americans have the same capabilities or even better. Due to the limited job availability for adults, the African American kids do not have a high opportunity to go to colleges, which eventually lead to lower-paying jobs[6]. The prejudice even exists in Obama's college life. One of her roommates, Cathy, says that her mother requests the campus to separate the dorm between black people and white people. Not only that, the discrimination of the application of Princeton was extreme as there were less than 9% of black freshman. For that reason, black people like Michelle Obama tend to be stood out in the class and mostly seem to give an uncomfortable sensation[7].
