Pros

Some positive compilation comments about this book was published on one of online sites, this a great example of diversity in children's literature. Many children who grew up in a small town, experience very little diversity in their day to day lives. This book is centered around a group of African children who must carry pots and buckets of water back home. All of the children besides Anna are able to balance the water carriers on their heads, which frustrates Anna. Although she eventually figures out how to carry the water on her head, this story is one of persistence and never giving up. This story demonstrates the many demands for water in daily life and suggests the challenge of providing it, but that is secondary to the strong social network, family life, and familiar community portrayed. The illustrations are very bright and colorful and show the beauty of this Caribbean country. According to the title page, the artwork was created on canvas and photographed. [4]
