{{DYKT}} must only be used in the category namespace. The template will produce an error message if it is present in any other namespace. The parameters must be switched when it is used in other areas—for example: the |talk= switch allows its use on talk pages, in any namespace—as described below:

  • {{DYK/Tags|talk}} or {{DYKT|talk}} may be used for tagging remote talk pages that are rarely motored—directing editors to a more appropriate talk page, where they are more likely to get a response. Either syntax shown produces the following example:
