Controversy

Zack and Nikki’s interracial romance causes rejection in their high school friends and families. Nikki’s mother also opposed her daughter's relationship with a white boy. However, the two who neither have dated interracially before, have a lot in common.

At one party, Nikki overhears Zack telling to his friends, "The blacker the berry, the sweeter the juice." It makes Nikki furious and breaks their relationships off. [3]

Additionally, Zack's white friends ever presume Zack's relationship with Nikki only because of sexual stereotypes about black women [4]
