Plot

This film tells the story of Rubin "Hurricane" Carter, an African-American man who rose above his troubled youth to become a top contender for the middle-weight boxing title. However, his dreams are shattered when he is accused of a triple murder, and is convicted to three natural-life terms. Despite becoming a cause celebre and his dogged efforts to prove his innocence through his autobiography, the years of fruitless efforts have left him discouraged. This changes when an African-American boy and his Canadian mentors read his book and are convinced of his innocence enough to work for his exoneration. However, what Hurricane and his friends learn is that this fight puts them against a racist establishment that profited from this travesty and have no intention of seeing it reversed.[2]

Black Racism

An African-American boxer Rubin "The Hurricane" Carter (Denzel Washington) was framed for three murders in Patterson, N.J., and lost 19 years of his life because of racism, corruption and perhaps most wounding indifference. [3] He is arrested, convicted and sentenced to life in prison even though he insists that he is innocent. It depicts how easy someone can be frame as a murderer especially Black people during 1980.[4] Afterfacing all discrimination, racial injustice and unfair law system with a worstverdict, Rubin is free from the accusation that he killing three white people but it takes 19 years.[5]

"Hate put me in prison, love is gonna bust me out." says Carter to Lesra Martin the one who help him with the evidence. This movie depicts in the of the day you will get the justice if you are not wrong in the world full of racism and discrimation[6] There is a scene when A 15-year-old boy named Lesra spends 25 cents to buy his first book, the autobiography of the boxer Rubin "Hurricane" Carter. As he reads it, he becomes determined to meet the boxer and support his fight for freedom, and that decision leads to redemption. He also enlists his Canadian foster family to help Carter, and they find new evidence for his defense attorneys that eventually leads to his release.[7]

Set partially in the world of boxing and mostly behind prison walls, the film is a carefully crafted experience, covering close to 20 years of Carter's life and charting his unwavering dignity in the face of larger forces of racism, conspiracy and discrimination."[8]
