The Black Godfather (2019) is a documentary movies directed by Reginald Hudlin. The film depicts the story of Clarence Avant, a music executive, from the eyes of people who has worked with him.[1]

Clarence Avant, known as “the godfather of black music”, is perhaps not well-known by the public, yet acclaimed in the music business. Beginning as a chief to musician writer Lalo Schifrin, he later established record labels, filled in as show coordinator, an events producer, an fund-raiser for Democratic legislators, and a tutor to a few African American executives.[1]

One who has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, had a differed profession as a supervisor, the author of two record names and an infrequent show coordinator and event producer. His real influence came from advocating for black artists and encouraging them on the most proficient method to get paid what they were worth.[3]
