Usage

This template produces a citation for Grierson's Linguistic Survey of India. It takes two unnamed parameters for the volume and part numbers, for example:

  • {{Linguistic Survey of India|11}} produces:
Grierson, George A. (1922). Linguistic Survey of India. Volume XI, Template:Trunc/mode/1up Gypsy languages. Calcutta: Office of the Superintendent of Government Printing, India.
  • {{Linguistic Survey of India|8|2}} produces:
Grierson, George A. (1919). Linguistic Survey of India. Volume VIII , Part 2, Indo-Aryan family. North-western group. Specimens of the Dardic or Piśācha languages (including Kāshmiri). Calcutta: Office of the Superintendent of Government Printing, India.

The title of each part is by default linked to the digitised text in http://dsal.uchicago.edu/books/lsi.

Page numbers can be added using the |page= (or |p=) parameter for a single pages, or the |pages= (or |pp=) parameter for a page range. For example:

  • {{Linguistic Survey of India|11|pp=117–19}} results in:
Grierson, George A. (1922). Linguistic Survey of India. Volume XI, Template:Trunc/mode/1up Gypsy languages. Calcutta: Office of the Superintendent of Government Printing, India. pp. 117–19.

If a specific chapter is used as the source, it can be specified with the |chapter= parameter:

  • {{Linguistic Survey of India|8|3|chapter=Sindhi}} will give:
Grierson, George A. (1919). "Sindhi". Linguistic Survey of India. Volume VIII Indo-Aryan family. North-western group. Calcutta: Office of the Superintendent of Government Printing, India.

The chapter can be linked with the |chapter-url= parameter.

Further options

The default publisher, place and year can be overridden respectively with the |publisher=, |place= and |year= parameters. The following parameters from {{cite book}} are also accepted: |access-date=, |at=, |edition=, |isbn=, |orig-year= and |quote=. By default, the template is compatible with the Harvard referencing templates, like {{sfn}}, but different ones can be specified using the |ref= parameter (see the documentation for more information).
