CNN Philippines

Created by Supergabbyshoe (talk). Nominated by Shhhhwwww!! (talk) at 03:06, 16 October 2014 (UTC).

  • Symbol possible vote.svg Not the third franchise in Asia at all. There is CNN Türk, and there is CNN Arabic, which while not a TV broadcaster is also a CNN franchise in Asia. And CNN International Asia Pacific is also located in Asia and aimed at Asia and the Pacific. It may be argued that CNN Philippines is the third CNN TV station aimed solely at an Asian country, but that's not really what the hook says. And even that version of the hook would be disputable, with things like CNNj around. Fram (talk) 10:48, 24 November 2014 (UTC)
  • Note: I see at least one bare URL, which is not allowed by DYK rules. It will need to be fixed. I've struck the original hook per Fram, and modified ALT1 to say "is set to launch" rather than "will launch", since we can't predict the future. I've placed a note on the nominator's talk page that there are issues to be addressed, but given Shhhhwwww!!'s typical failure to respond to such pings, I'm also pinging its creator. Supergabbyshoe, while you didn't nominate the article, it's probably up to you to address any issues that arise during the course of the review, such as the bare URL, if you wish this to appear on the main page. BlueMoonset (talk) 16:19, 6 December 2014 (UTC)
  • The bare URL has now been fixed -- Esemono (talk) 09:01, 7 December 2014 (UTC)
  • Symbol possible vote.svg Many paragraphs in the article are unsourced, including at least one with a quote in it—all quotes must be sourced by the end of the sentence which contains the quote. Sourcing is needed for the final paragraph in Background, the second and third paragraphs under "as Talk TV", the third Solar News Channel paragraph, and the first and last paragraphs under "as 9TV". All of these paragraphs need at least one inline source citation. BlueMoonset (talk) 17:06, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
  • OK I think it's been cleaned up -- Esemono (talk) 22:56, 10 December 2014 (UTC)
  • Symbol redirect vote 4.svg Full review needed now that the general article sourcing is at DYK levels. Thanks, Esemono, for getting it there. BlueMoonset (talk) 02:23, 12 December 2014 (UTC)
Symbol question.svg Long enough, new enough, no copyvios found. ALT1 acceptable. Fair use images are unacceptable - please either replace/convert to CC-BY-SA or lower or remove. Who, if anyone, needs to do a QPQ?--Launchballer 17:06, 19 December 2014 (UTC)
  • Comment Not a self nomination so no QPQ required. 7&6=thirteen () 17:24, 19 December 2014 (UTC)
I ask because I was asked for a QPQ for a non-self-nom here. Template:U, when was the cut-off point?--Launchballer 23:56, 19 December 2014 (UTC)
Launchballer, all nominations made on or after November 21 are subject to the QPQ rules, whether self-nominated or a nomination of someone else's work. Since this was made on October 16, it comes under the previous rules, so no QPQ is needed here. BlueMoonset (talk) 04:37, 20 December 2014 (UTC)
Noted. Image problems remain.--Launchballer 10:17, 20 December 2014 (UTC)
DYK articles can't have fair use images? I know you can't have a fair use on the Main page but in the article itself? That's OK right?-- Esemono (talk) 23:09, 20 December 2014 (UTC)
Should be. I've removed images from the body because I don't think they add anything to the article, but I've left the company logo. Fuebaey (talk) 23:22, 20 December 2014 (UTC)
Fair use images are unacceptable according to this, which appears on the editing window of every DYK nomination.--Launchballer 20:06, 21 December 2014 (UTC)
Um, no, that's not what it means. Free images are the only kind that can be used as the picture in a DYK nomination, and that nominated image must appear in the article. The article itself, however, can have both free images and fair-use images, provided that they are properly licensed, and the non-free images meet the fair-use criteria. A DYK reviewer should check both the nominated image to ensure it's free and in the article (if there is one), and any other images in the article to make sure they're properly licensed. BlueMoonset (talk) 23:19, 21 December 2014 (UTC)
Symbol confirmed.svgPerhaps the wording of the guidelines can be reworded to that effect, because it is a very easy mistake to make. I've been making it throughout my entire DYK career. Not only are we Symbol confirmed.svg good to go, but the images that Template:U have removed it would appear can be reintroduced.--Launchballer 23:42, 21 December 2014 (UTC)
They were cluttering up the article, they don't need to be put back in. -- Esemono (talk) 01:23, 22 December 2014 (UTC)
