2005 Dickies 500

Created by ZappaOMati (talk). Self nominated at 02:24, 16 May 2013 (UTC).

  • Firstly, the length and date of creation for the article both check out fine, and the article is generally well referenced. The main hook and a couple of ALTs refer to records held by this race as being the "highest in the Chase for the Nextel Cup", "the fewest in a Nextel Cup Series race at.." and "highest in a NexTel Cup Series race at .." Do I take it that if these records were beaten once the series changed its name to the Sprint Cup, you would consider these records to stand as Nextel Cup records? In the UK a change of sponsorship wouldn't have any effect, so the records set in the Nextel period would be considered broken in the Sprint period, so I am seeking clarification as to whether it is considered differently in the US? Harrias talk 15:16, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
  • The sponsorship doesn't have an effect on the records. Nextel Cup records are pretty much Sprint Cup Records as well. ZappaOMati 22:26, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
  • Hm, I didn't see those. I rephrased the hooks. ZappaOMati 15:07, 1 June 2013 (UTC)
  • Symbol redirect vote 4.svg Revised hooks need rechecking; another editor has also made changes to the article in the past week. BlueMoonset (talk) 23:44, 8 June 2013 (UTC)
  • Symbol confirmed.svg for Alt1. I share Harrias' concerns about the confusion between these old records which are no longer the record holders in the Sprint Cup. I tweaked the article slightly to make that more clear in the article but I'm not comfortable with the current wording of the hooks so I'm going to take the safe route and approve the Ferko hook. That said, I do think the article would be well served to have a little more context about the Ferko lawsuit added to the body (which is a bit on the stubby-side at only 1759 bytes). It was a pretty significant case in Nascar history that led to the creation of the Dickies 500 so you would think that an article on the first ever race would have more background info. The article passes all other DYK criteria for date, length and referencing with with no sign of plagiarism or close paraphrasing. AgneCheese/Wine 20:04, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
