2004 ICC Champions Trophy Final

Created/expanded by Sahara4u (talk). Self nominated at 02:18, 8 October 2014 (UTC).

  • Symbol question.svg Age, size and QPQ check out. Sorry to say but the hook looks very unsatisfactory interestingness wise. This was West Indies' first major trophy since the 1979 WC. Something on that lines would make the hook more interesting. This is strictly my opinion to which you may or may not agree. Vensatry (ping) 17:37, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
  • ALT hook seems good to me. An apostrophe is needed after the s in West Indies. Also 2 should be two per MOS:NUM.

Symbol possible vote.svg Hooks not directly cited. The West Indies play all three major forms of cricket. First source mentions 'first one-day success since 1979' and the second does not mention at all. Either alter a hook to reflect this or find another source to support the alt hooks. Fuebaey (talk) 23:02, 13 November 2014 (UTC)
Template:Ping the first source (ref#3) says "West Indies beat England by two wickets at The Oval, successfully chasing a target of 218 as Barbadians Ian Bradshaw and Courtney Browne shared an unbroken ninth-wicket partnership of 71." (last para) while the second source (ref#4) says "West Indies clinched the Champions Trophy with a thrilling two-wicket victory over England at a chilly Oval." and "In ecstatic scenes, West Indies celebrated their first major tournament victory since 1979 on a ground where England consigned them to a 4-0 Test series whitewash last month." (fourth para). --Khadar Khani (talk) 00:24, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
Sorry, I should've clarified - I was referring to the alt hooks stating that this was their first major tournament win since 1979 (and the two inline cites that went with it). The original hook sounds more like an ITN blurb rather than a DYK hook so I've striked it. Fuebaey (talk) 01:37, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
Symbol confirmed.svg Never mind, I'll retract my original objection. Hate reading stuff on a mobile phone. It does mention in the second reference like you said. Good to go on either alt but going for Alt with Vensatry's review. Fuebaey (talk) 01:52, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
