DFDb name in the Danish Film Database

Template documentation[view] [edit] [history] [purge]

Description

{{DFDb name}} is a template used to generate an external link to an entry for a person in the Danish Film Database. In an article it should only be used in the "External links" section.

For a work (film/movie, TV or Web program/series, video game, etc.), use {{DFDb title}}.
For a company, use {{DFDb company}}.

Usage

The required parameter is the ID number. The template then uses the article title as the anchor text:

* {{DFDb name|ID}}

To have the link text be other than the article name, use second parameter:

* {{DFDb name|ID|Name}}

This is necessary when adding a Danish Film Database link to an article about somebody or something other than the linked person (for example, if you include the Danish Film Database link for Lars von Trier on a talk page, you must specify Lars von Trier's name as the text for the link).

Detailed instructions

  1. Copy and paste one of the options above into the article's External links section
  2. Go to Danish Film Database and search for the person you want (say, Lars von Trier; you'll reach http://www.dfi.dk/Service/English/Films-and-industry/Factsheet.aspx?ss_q=Lars+von+Trier)
  3. Click on the correct Lars von Trier in the list; this will bring up the page http://www.dfi.dk/faktaomfilm/person/en/1031.aspx?id=1031
  4. Copy only the number (here, "1031")
  5. Replace "ID" in the template code with the number
For the first option above, you'll then have
* {{DFDb name|1031}} resulting in:
Note that the link text is the same as the title of the page the template is used on; outside the page Lars von Trier, use the second option:
Replace "ID" with the number and "Name" with "Lars von Trier"
* {{DFDb name|1031|Lars von Trier}} results in:
