Usage
This template formats IPA transcriptions and links them to Help:IPA/Portuguese. The transcription should match the conventions of that key; for narrower dialect transcriptions, use {{IPA-all}}, which links to a more complete IPA key.
The first cell in the template is for the transcription, and a second optional cell is a switch that controls the lede. With no second value, the lede Portuguese pronunciation: appears:
{{IPA-pt|bo}}
→ Portuguese pronunciation: [bo]{{IPA-pt|bo|pron}}
→ pronounced [bo]{{IPA-pt|bo|lang}}
→ Portuguese: [bo]{{IPA-pt|bo|eu}}
→ European Portuguese: [bo]{{IPA-pt|bo|br}}
→ Brazilian Portuguese: [bo]{{IPA-pt|bo|local}}
→ locally [bo]{{IPA-pt|bo|IPA}}
→ IPA: [bo]{{IPA-pt|bo|}}
→ [bo]
Any of these may be combined with a sound file in an optional third cell:
For the default lede, however, a placeholder such as ‹-› is required in the second cell:
Text size
By default, this template sets 85% fontsize. That is acceptable for use in normal text, but when used inside an infobox (which already reduces text size to 88%), it results in a text size of 85% of 88% = 75% of the normal text size. That breaches MOS:TEXTSIZE which requires all text to be no less than 85% of normal text size.
The size parameter allows the text size to be changed. Omitting the parameter defaults to 85%. When used in an infobox, this template must have the size parameter set to no less than 97% (97% of 88% = 85%).
{{IPA-pt|ˈʃaɡɐs}}
→ Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈʃaɡɐs]{{IPA-pt|size=97%|ˈʃaɡɐs}}
→ Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈʃaɡɐs]
