When to use

Place this template on a section of an article when you have identified a serious issue of subject imbalance due to a substantial area of the section's subject being missing or poorly dealt with, and when you wish to attract editors who may be able to redress the balance. Please immediately explain on the article's talk page why you are adding this tag.

An unbalanced section is one that does not fairly represent the entire scope of the section's subject. For example, the "Career" section of the biography of a top sportsman who later became a prominent coach might deal almost exclusively with his playing career or almost exclusively with his coaching career, when it might be more reasonable for the section to deal with both equally.

This should not be confused with an article where there is a lack of balance due to editorial bias - for those articles please use {{POV}} instead.

Some subject imbalance may be due to the population of Wikipedian editors — an article on a worldwide subject may deal more with its impact and aspects in European, North American and/or Anglocentric countries than those areas where there are few Wikipedian editors, for example. In these cases, the {{systemic bias}} template may be more appropriate.

How to use

Place {{Cleanup weighted section|date=July 2022}} at the top of the section, then explain your reasons on the article's talk page. To specify the section of the talk page, use {{Cleanup weighted section|2=talk page section name|date=July 2022}}.

A different version of this template, {{Cleanup weighted}}, can be used to place a small box at the left side of the section, rather than a full-width banner, like this: {{Cleanup weighted|section|date=July 2022}}. Again, use the 2nd parameter (2= ) to link to the talk page section.

This template will categorize tagged articles in Category:Articles needing more viewpoints.

This template should only be used in the main (article) namespace. Do not place this template on talk pages, user pages, policies and guidelines, or other pages.
