Purpose

This template facilitates the citation of articles from either an external source or from the Wikisource project Easton's Bible Dictionary in the manner of {{cite encyclopedia}}.

Usage

List of parameters

noicon=x – if set removes the icon from the start of the citation
short=x  — prevents author, publisher and edition information being displayed
ref=harv — default. can be modified by setting the parameter
           to another value (see {{cite encyclopedia}})
encyclopedia=Easton's Bible Dictionary — default setting. Can be modified
year=1897 — default setting. Can be modified
last=Easton — default setting. Can be modified
authorlink=Matthew George Easton  — default setting. Can be modified
edition=New and revised — default setting. Can be modified
publisher=T. Nelson and Sons  — default setting. Can be modified
wstitle=EBD article name — set if the EBD article resides on Wikisource
title=EBD article name  — set if the EBD article does not reside on Wikisource
url=article link  — set if the EBD article resides on a known external web server
volume=volume number — not set by default see (see {{cite encyclopedia}})
page=page number  — not set by default see (see {{cite encyclopedia}})
pages=page number  — not set by default see (see {{cite encyclopedia}})

To link to an article on Wikisource:

  • {{Cite EBD|wstitle=EBD article name}}

or to name an article and optionally link to another site using the url parameter:

  • {{Cite EBD|title=EBD article name|url=url here}}

Using the article name Samaritan Pentateuch as an example with wstitle=:

The parameter noicon=1 stops the display of the icon:

If the parameter short=1 is set then author, edition and publisher are not displayed:

noicon=1 and short=1 can be combined:
