Template:Abkhazia note
Abkhazia is the subject of a territorial dispute between the Republic of Abkhazia and Georgia. The Republic of Abkhazia unilaterally declared independence on 23 July 1992, but Georgia continues to claim it as part of its own sovereign territory and designates it as a territory occupied by Russia. Abkhazia has received formal recognition as an independent state from Expression error: Unrecognized punctuation character "[". out of Template:UNnum United Nations member states, Template:Numrec/Abkhazia of which has subsequently withdrawn its recognition.
{{Abkhazia note}} was created analogously to {{Kosovo note}}, since, like Kosovo, Abkhazia's status should not be discussed every time Abkhazia is mentioned in an article that does not deal directly with the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict, while this information should still be available for interested readers.
