A little black girl hold true to her dream that on the theater stage you can be whatever you want even Snow White- Kirkus Starred Review.[1]

Summary

Tameika is a young African American girl who loves musical and dreams of starring in one as a princess one day. She scared that her brown skin and a plump frame might keep her from her dreams. [2] She is excited to audition for the school's Snow White musical, but when she overhears her friends say she is too tall, chubby, and brown to play Snow White, she questions whether she is right for the role or not. [3]

Pros

One of online site gave a detail review about this book. They wrote that they loved this book for so many reasons. It shows all marginalized children that everything is possible. Tameika auditioning for the role of Snow White is powerful not only for readers of color, but for everyone, enabling us to see beyond the dominant images of White protagonists in childhood stories and fairy tales.

It is revolutionary that fairy tales and stories represent children of all colors. With her brown skin, and kinky hair, Tameika is the furthest from classic Disney fantasies—but closest to my reality. Hopefully all children (and adults) reading this book will realize that can become wishes and dreams, and that everyone is worthy of being seen despite what others may think or say. [4]
