Pros

Tiffany Wideman as a verifief reader dropped her detail comments about this book. She explained that the story is about a twin sister and twin brother who are mixed. The narrators Nia and Jay tells the story of them being mixed. The author, Sebastian Jones and Garcelle Beauvais capture the voice of two children who describe their skin color (ex. I am mixed with all kinds of goodies like chocolate chunks and marshmellow delights), who talks about how their parents describe them (ex. my moms say, "your skin is the night and your eyes are the stars) and also what they believe they are (ex. I am the best from all over the world, i am like every boy and every girl). As a teacher she would use this text to teach children to be proud of who they are and even though we have many differences we are all the same. Also she would use this text to teach descriptive language. She also appreciate that Sebastian Jones teamed with Garcelle Beauvais to write this story, Beauvais has two biracial children which makes the cultural perspective they are portraying very authentic. The illustrations by James Webster draws the readers in because they a very vibrant and clear and they might inspire children to keep on reading. The book is like a photo album and very captivating.
