Hair Dance! was written by Dinah Johnson. As "Dianne" She is an English professor. But as "Dinah"--the name her parents has always called her. She wrote books for young people and visited schools all around the country. She wrote about the things she loved, her family, her dolls, African American history, and more. She loves starting with a blank white page, using her imagination, and finally having a book to share with her friends of every age and background.[1]

Pros

This book would be ideal for children to discover their identity. A reader utilizes this book for 2 - 5 grade students. He really enjoyed reading this book and it states that hair comes in all colors, textures, and styles. A positive comment also made by Dinah Johnson & Kelly JohnsonI, they loved this book! As it’s a celebration of the many textures and styles of African American hair but expressed on a young girls’ level. By the time they reach adulthood, most of them are pretty secure with skin and with the choices for their hair, but they really need to start at a young age helping little brown girls feel good about the hair that God blessed them to have. The pictures and words in this book do just that! [4]
